Best “Must Read” New Age Books (top 3)

While I admit to being a new age book lover. I do believe that a “new age” is actually upon us, and there is a new awakening afoot. There are some important authors bringing us important messages.

Some are simply cashing in on this human awakening (humans are the only living beings on earth that require an awakening, as all other forms of life are 100% connected to source), where a few are actually writing inspired work that is driving the new world of mankind’s consciousness. Of the new age authors, I would like to list some of my favorites, and then mention each one of their MUST READ books.

I will mention only three new age authors for this post, and perhaps more on later posts. Keep in mind that this is just MY opinion and these are simply my personal favorites when I refer to these new age authors and their books as the “best”

Best New Age Book #1

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle details the human condition and our state of consciousness. He digs deep into the human need for ego, and how it effects most all of our lives.

My first feeling as I began reading The New Earth is one of discomfort as I realized the size and depth of my own ego. I’ve always known that my ego was large (larger than most) and I’ve used self-deprecating humor to mask it and at the same time draw yet more attention to myself.

I believe ALL human beings need to read Eckhart’s books (starting with The New Earth, and then The Power of Now), and some of us need his message more than others. I belong to the latter. After getting past the first few chapters of The New Earth, and facing the reality of how my pandering ego worked, and began to experience the “awakening” that so many people have talked about when reading Eckhart’s writings.

Soon enough I forgave myself for the massive ego that I’ve lugged around since childhood, really started to “get it” – so to speak. I’ve compared The New Earth to an open-pit mine. As you start mining (reading) you face some hard ground as you are faced with the work required. As you dig (read) deeper, the better the minerals (ideas) you begin to procure. In the last layers of the mine (chapters) it’s mostly pure gold and you reap the biggest rewards.

Eckhart Tolle brings to light what all of mankind needs to know, and does it without offending your religious beliefs. Highly recommended.

Best New Age Book #2

Life After Death by Deepak Chopra

Life After Death by Deepak Chopra is another eye-opening read, and I highly recommend it to my fellow readers, seekers, and new world students. Deepak is an extremely educated and gifted man, and he may lose you in some areas of the book as he goes into areas of quantum physics, but don’t let that turn you off. This knowledge is invaluable if you want to explore your immortality, and your true state of energy and it’s spiraling place in our universe.

In Life After Death – Burden of Proof, you can almost get the feeling that Deepak is writing to the naysayers of new age and eastern religious beliefs. He blends fact & faith by melding the science of quantum physics and the beliefs of ancient eastern mystics and sages.

If you believe in the existence of your human spirit, then you will love this book. If you don’t believe in life after death then this book may change your mind, or at the very least, give you pause.

Best New Age Book #3

Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life by Wayne Dyer

Wayne Dyer has always been one of my favorite so-called “self-help” gurus, and his books were my first introduction to what use to be called self-help reading, and/or new age reading. I first read his breakthrough book Your Erroneous Zones, and one of his other extremely powerful books is The Power of Intention.

I highly recommend reading some of Wayne’s inspired work.I’ve chosen one of Wayne Dyer’s latest books, Change Your Thoughts – Change Your life, because it accomplishes a great feat. In this important book Wayne channels the ancient Chinese sage Lao-tzu and gives us Lao-tzu’s 81 verses known as the Tao Te Ching (The Great Way).

I believe that the Bible and the Tao Te Ching to be the two most important books every written. Having the Tao Te Ching translated in such a beautiful way is invaluable. Dr. Dyer interprets the 81 verses and I believe he has arguably unlocked the ancient writings of Lao-tzu for modern man to more easily read, digest, and understand.

Imagine if the Bible was only printed in it’s original language of Greek, and you just now had a chance to read it in your own language (perhaps English). This is exactly what Wayne has done for us in Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Mind. This is why I rate this book in the top three picks for new-age self-help literature.
