Welcome to our bean bag chair resource, where we list advertising for merchants who sell bean bag chairs of all colors, shapes, sizes, and themes.

Bean bag chairs came out back in the late sixties (of course) and was invented by a company known as Zanotta. The first bean bag chairs were conceptualized by the the Italian designers Paolini, Teodora, and Gatti while working for the Zanotta Company back in 69. These first bean bag chairs were called Soccos. They were made of leather and filled with "Styro-beads".

How Bean Bags Chairs Were Invented

What's most interesting about bean bags is how they came to be. A styrofoam maker who just produced various styrofoam products used to throw away all excess styrofoam into garbage bags to be shipped out in the next pickup. Employees of the factory would use the garbage bags to lounge on during coffee and cigarette breaks. Eventually, staff members began creating makeshift styrofoam filled bags from fabrics instead of garbage bags.

The Zanotta threesome (as mentioned above) took notice and began producing the first bean bag chairs for sale. Believe it or not, the first bean bag chairs they manufactured were faulty, and it wasn't an easy go. Teodora had mentioned giving up on the idea, but was pushed on my his associates Paolini and Gatti.

Theme Based Bean Bag Chairs

There are, what we call, bean bag chair themes. These themes are usually by State, College, Sports Teams, Cartoon Characters, Various Licensed Characters, Recreation, Novelty Themes, and of course Color and Pattern Themes.

These theme based bean bag chairs are of course the more popular buy, as they're ideal for a child's room. However, decorators and interior design artists are choosing bean bag chairs for accent furniture.

Why Bean Bag Chairs are Becoming More Popular

Bean bag chairs are becoming more popular again, and sell more globally than they ever did back in 1969-1972. The quality of the bags is much higher, and the quality and durability of the inner "beans" is much better too. There are even bean bag chair manufacturers that are using scientific advancements to make better, and more comfortable chairs.

Bean Bag Chair Prices

Bean bag chairs are priced differently from company to company, store to store, and country to country. You can expect to pay between $150 and $250, depending on the cost of shipping, the taxes, the quality, and of course the size.

The coolest and hippest bean bag chair these days are the oversized large (massive to huge) kind. These extra-large bean bag chairs fill up the corner of an entire room. They can be used as sofas, couches, and even beds. Very neat.
