Keurig brewing systems are the latest craze sweeping the small appliance market. These devices brew coffee one cup at a time so it is always fresh and with the flavor that you desire.  These Keurig brewing systems come in several models, however the one that we looked at is the Keurig B70 brewing system.

With the introduction of the Keurig brewing system, consumers can now have individual coffee brewed fresh any time they want in their homes. Up till now you had to brew a pot of coffee which gets stale quickly if you do not drink it. In fact coffee that has been sitting longer than 15 minutes loses the majority of its fresh taste. It can become quite acidic. In fact the better restaurants will pour out old coffee after 15 minutes and brew a new pot just to be able to serve fresh coffee to their guests!

There have been commercial single cup machines available, however they were not really practical for the home due to their size and the price was pretty high for a home installation. No one wants a bulky coffee machine in their kitchen.

Select Your Cup Size

Now there is a single cup brewing system for the home that delivers quality fresh coffee every time. When you are ready, slip a K-cup with your favorite coffee into the Keurig brewing system and select the cup size from 4 to 12 oz and the Keurig brewing system will do the rest. The Keurig brewing system B70 comes with a removable 60 oz reservoir so that you can fill up and brew 6 to 10 cups before refilling. The display is a quiet blue display which can be fully programmed. It plugs into the standard 120V outlet. The Keurig brewing system B70 will fit nicely under your cupboards. It is 13 inches high, 10 inches wide, and 13.25 inches deep.  It weighs 15 pounds when the reservoir is full of water.

Removable Drip Tray

The Keurig brewing system comes with a removable drip tray. The drip tray will catch any spills and is easily removed for clean up. Often consumers are anxious to try their latest coffee before the brewed coffee has finished dripping. No problem when the drip tray is installed.

Customer Reviews

We have not purchased the Keurig brewing system as of yet, but we are thinking that this would be an excellent addition to our kitchen.  On the site we looked at there were 18 reviews from a variety of customers. Seventy seven percent of the customers gave the Keurig brewing system B70 system five stars while six percent gave it one star. Six % is only one customer and this customers machine had stopped working five days after he had picked it up. Since it was around Christmas time, the company was inundated with inquires, plus people were probably off due to the holidays. Needless to say this customer was not happy.

We have talked with one couple who has one and they are very happy with the product and recommended it to us to try it out. Still at $172 US, that is a lot of money to spend on a coffee maker , even though you get a fresh cup of coffee every time. We are in the process of looking for the best deal we can find and plan to check the sales to see what kind of a deal we can get.

Another concern we have is the cost of the k-cup’s.  Depending on were you purchase your k-cup’s, you may pay an average of fifty cents per cup, which is still less than the coffee shop and better coffee at that. At fifty cents per cup, it is quite a bit more expensive than brewing your own coffee, so you have to ask yourself it is really worth it purchase a coffee maker that is this expensive.

At one store the Keurig brewing system was being demonstrated and we enjoyed a fresh brewed cup of coco. It was really good and we enjoyed it very much. I was surprised that it tasted so good.

I raised the issue of the cost of the k-cup’s. The demonstrator showed us an accessory that we could purchase for $15 which would allow regular coffee to be used. This is a great money saving device, but it does have extra work with it since you have to clean and wash it after every cup of coffee. We think that although it is a great option it kind of defeats the purpose of purchasing a Keurig brewing system. Might as well stick with the tried and true approach if you are going to have to wash the filter every time.

We want a coffee maker that brews a single fresh cup of coffee every time with no fuss and no mess. The Keurig brewing system B70 system with k-cups gives us that feature as well as the selection of coffees from around the world to chose from.

We live in Canada and have priced the Keurig brewing system out here in Canada. I think that we will wait and make our purchase in the United States on one of our vacations into the US. Compared to the US we would pay as much as $100 more in Canada, which is  outrageous.  Between taxes and shipping plus margin, it is too much to purchase a Keurig brewing system B70 in Canada.
