Nissan Leaf In Calgary?
So I’m getting itchy to buy a completely ZERO emission car like the new Chev Volt or the Nissan Leaf. I don’t like the fact that the Volt has a small combustion engine to generate power for the batteries during longer trips – I want to get away from any kind of petroleum product if I can.
The Leaf can only go 100 miles and only 90 miles an hour, which I have no problem with really, it’s just that we have to drive from Calgary to Saskatoon a few times each year, and now we have to drive to Courtney on Vancouver Island. We want to drive long distance, so I suppose we’ll have to settle for our 2006 Prius.
I can’t see the Leaf going over very well in Canada because we have to drive such great distances, and unless there were the fast charging stations it would be impossible to manage. Also, the quick charge stations take 30 minutes to recharge the cells.
